<DIV>As webmaster I see all the mistakes the crew makes when trying to use the
ships mailing lists. The one single most common error is trying to send
email to both the mailing list and to other people at the same time.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>To prevent our list from becoming a SPAM heaven, I have placed some very
heavy filter restrictions on the list. One of those restrictions is that
the email sent to the list can not have other recipients or copy addresses on
them. This is done for two reasons.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The first is a privacy issue. If your email has other email addresses
as the recipient or as a “copy to” address, it will appear in the sent email on
the list which essentially publishes your email address to everyone, and for
those few unfortunate crew members who have Trojans or viruses on their
systems, your email is then immediately published to the global SPAM lists on
hackers chat channels and within hours you will be on every SPAM list on planet
earth.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The second reason is to avoid reaching our email daily limit of emails our
ISP places on our account.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>So when you send an email to our list, please only send to the list.
Encourage your known friends to join our list rather than have you send then a
copy of your emails.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Do not use the list to send out non ship emails such as jokes or other
chain emails.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Use the email list to make it a vibrant communications channel for our crew
to share information.</DIV>
