Photo Submissions

The Semmes website now uses the program "Coppermine" for it's photo gallery. It is very easy to submit photos and to document them.

As a "guest user", you can upload individual photos to the web site for the administrator to include them into the on-line album. Please add a caption to your photos and be sure the comments are detailed to identify the people and year the photo is from.

You are also able to add comments to existing photos to identify the people in those photos. I review comments about once a month and will add them as a caption when I make the review. Until then you comment will serve as the caption.

Crew BIO's

If you would like to submit your bio to be placed on the Semmes web site, please follow these suggestions.
Keep your personal data fairly general. Use years like 1964 rather than a specific date.
Do not enter any personal information that is not common knowledge already amound your friends.
Remember, this is the Internet, and personal information should be carefully considered before being submitted.

Here is an example of a very short bio with limited information.

Joe D. Semmes
1963 -1965 served aboard Semmes.
1965 -1970 went back to college and earned my MBA.
1965 -1996 Worked for AT&T
1965 -1980 Married first time, and had three children.
1985 - moved to Florida.
1988 - Re-married.

Of course you can put as much information about yourself as you wish, just be cautious.
Submit your bio as a text file and use the following file name convention.
File names should contain only lower case characters, and no spaces. Use the UNDERSCORE in place of a space.

bio_YYYY_your_name_rank/rate.txt
YYYY = the date you reported aboard the Semmes
Your name is of course your name.
rank/rate = your rank/rate while onboard Semmes

Stories

If you would like to submit a story to be placed on the Semmes web site, please follow these suggestions.

Keep personal data fairly general.
Do not enter any personal information that is not common knowledge already.
Remember, this is the Internet, and personal information should be carefully considered before being submitted.
Make sure the store is reasonably true, and about some Semmes adventure.

Submit your story as a text file and use the following file name convention.

File names should contain only lower case characters, and no spaces. (Use the UNDERSCORE in place of a space.)

YYYY_your_name_nnnn.txt
YYYY = the date the story is about
Your name is of course your name.
nnnn = a number to identify your story, it could also be a short title. (0001, or, liberty_in_spain)

Please don't submitt complicated word processing files, as everyone does not have the correct software to view them. Using WORDPAD, or NOTEPAD is safe, since all window PC's have those text editors to view text documents.
