You all remember my good friend Vic Martino....
I know you do, because he pulled extra duty in every division, along with
me of course!
Just kidding. Vic and I did see our share of bilge diving however.
I like to think of it as diverse training, maybe cross-training.
Vic was usually seen with me, Warren Bassford, Joe Cavallero and Joe Butler.
We always had the greatest liberties together.
How could we go wrong, a white guy from NJ, a black guy from Philly, and a
Puerto Rican (from NY).... we could go anyplace!
Vic left the Semmes in Oct 1963 to serve on the Wallace Lind.
Vic spent time as a Merchant Seman, serving in Vietnam, as a firefighter in
New York City,
and later joined the Army Reserves, and retired as an E-7
in the Army a few years ago.
